In coordination with “Courage to Act: Rescue in Denmark,” a special exhibit at the Museum of Jewish Heritage highlighting the remarkable story of the rescue of Danish Jews during the Holocaust, the KCO presents “A Concert Dedicated to Courage and Compassion,” a program of musical works that speaks to courage, compassion and bravery through the ages, with special guests soprano Mikaela Bennett and baritone Benjamin Davis. This free concert will feature the premiere of a new work by Gary S. Fagin honoring Henny Sinding and her boat, Gerda III, donated to the Museum by the Danish Parliament in 1989 and currently docked at The Mystic Seaport Museum in Connecticut. In 1943, twenty-two-year-old Henny led Gerda III’s rescue activities, saving an estimated 300 Jews in groups of 10 – 15 at a time on clandestine journeys across the Øresund Sound to Sweden. Edmond J.
